The Golf Loft: Where Night Golf Comes Alive in Lowell
We are excited about the launch of The Golf Loft in Lowell, Michigan. This stylized 20-bay facility is nestled in the countryside like a glowing speakeasy at night in the woods at Arrowhead Golf Course.
Started in 2023, the project faced regulatory hurdles until this spring. With full construction nearly completed, the venue is a masterclass in microsite construction featuring the first collaboration between radar-based Inrange tee line gaming and SmartTargets in the field. “We looked for a while to find a complete tee box to target gaming experience that takes golf entertainment to another level and turns our venue into multiple live games,” says owner Josh Brewer.
Since the existing range does not have right-side netting, this field design aimed to motivate players to hit up the middle and to the left side of the range. “Through a series of 30ft targets crowned with a 40ft – 125 center target, we are able to create a visually focused field without the need for larger targets,” explains Smart Target Golf CEO and designer, Robert Peterson. ” Key to a successful microsite is to create a compelling ‘instagramable’ field without breaking the bank and turning your ROI matrix upside down. The field will become the most visual aspect of your brand. We make it big, bold, and up close for all those evening customers who are new to golf.
One of the creative features of this venue is the sponsored shank wall designed to block out the river that passes across the range, while catching all the balls. Thanks to the wall and well-crafted back netting, the venue will have its own unique flavor while solving a key logistical hurdle.
The key features of the targets are their above-ground hard shell design made for harsh Michigan winters and lots of ground moisture all year round. For this, an above-ground model protects against weather while allowing the venue owner to access the target at any time from above ground.
In 2025, Smart Target Golf is excited to launch even more innovation with both laser and movement. The Golf Loft is scheduled to open in June.
